Medical support transforming lives

Medical support transforming lives

The Victoria Foundation was created in 2007 with charitable aims which are broad, but firmly medical with the overall aim of transforming lives where there is an opportunity to do so - either through medical provision or by ensuring that young people destined to become the future generations of doctors are not prevented from achieving this due to financial restrictions.

Our focus currently is on providing medical equipment and assistance in four key areas, which the Foundation’s trustees have identified as potential gaps in the provision by The State. This focus ensures that the charity can help transform the lives of those in most need.

The four key areas of TVF's focus:

  • Mobility Aids – supporting those who suffer from diseases that affect their mobility in both their recreational and rehabilitation needs by providing support where financial constraints do not allow the private purchase of mobility aids.
  • Accessible Transport – helping residents of the London Boroughs of Richmond and Kingston suffering from any medical condition that renders conventional transport either inaccessible or inappropriate.
  • Medical Toolkit Grants and Elective Bursaries – supporting widening participation in medicine by awarding UK students studying at UK universities Toolkit Grants for the purchase books, medical instruments and travel costs to placements and Elective Bursaries with a contribution towards the cost of overseas travel to electives.
  • Medical Assistance – supporting individuals and organisations with grants for medical equipment or support which is not funded by the State or readily available on the NHS. We  consider applications on a case by case basis and have funded a wide range of support including a specialist bed and wheelchair powerpack for individuals, a sensory bath hoist for a charity and accessible transport costs for an outing for clients of another charity to name just a few.

We are also willing and able to be creative in how we support our beneficiaries, and we welcome interaction and suggestions from both donors and beneficiaries.

The Victoria Foundation is extremely grateful to The Richmond Charities for its support once again and the 2022 grant award of £2,500 which will enable TVF to provide medical equipment and assistance to a greater number of people in need, hardship or distress in the Richmond Borough.

The Victoria Foundation receives an annual grant from The London Community Foundation Victoria Foundation Endowment Fund and will receive £12,694 in 2021- 2022 which will enable TVF to provide medical equipment and assistance to an organisation(s) with shared objectives within the Richmond and Kingston area.

Both of these grants will help The Victoria Foundation to provide medical equipment and assistance, which is not readily available, to those in great need and make a difference to so many lives.
