Special Wheels Appeal – Accessible Minibus for TAG Youth Club for Disabled Youngsters
The Victoria Foundation has pledged a grant of £22,000 towards the cost of a fifteen-seat accessible minibus, which can accommodate two wheelchairs, for TAG Youth Club for Disabled Young People based at Ham Youth Club. TVF had planned to raise the funds for the grant at a number of its events which have had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
TAG Youth Club for Disabled Young People provides a safe, stimulating, and engaging environment for youngsters between the ages of 8 and 25 with a disability to meet up with their friends, take part in fun activities, and learn social and life skills. The sessions run on alternate Fridays all year round from its base at Ham Youth Club and support over 100 youngsters per year with high demand for its services. TAG has adapted its services during the pandemic. The minibus will be used to support not only the club’s weekly youth club but its activities on weekends, school holidays and residential trips. It would also help the club to reach more children and young people, living in Richmond and the surrounding areas, and in particular wheelchair users who are currently underrepresented. Parents, carers, and siblings will also benefit as the club’s activities provide them with a short break from the responsibilities of caring.
Please make a donation TODAY so that TAG Youth Club for Disabled Young People can take delivery of the much-needed accessible minibus– every donation small or large will help to make this happen.

ACCESSIBLE TRANSPORT - HELPING PREVENT LONELINESS, ISOLATION AND KEEPING OUR COMMUNITY CONNECTED
A specially adapted minibus can provide an elderly, frail or medically infirm person with the opportunity to leave their home and continue life as part of the community. It can take groups of elderly people and disabled young people on special and memorable days out, providing stimulation for them and much needed respite for their carers. Without it, the quality of life for many residents – both young and old – would be vastly reduced.
The Foundation has partnered with RAKAT (Richmond and Kingston Accessible Transport) in addressing this area, but can also consider applications from individuals and other local organisations and can contribute towards the cost of an accessible vehicle or providing accessible transport.
Grant applications are reviewed each quarter in January April July October
