TVF 25km Thames Trek - 7th March 2021

Lorna Votier and TVF's supporters completed the 25km on 11th September and 12th Octoher and have raised over £7,000 which will help to transform more lives. It is not to late to sponsor Lorna NOW

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on TVF's Fundraising with the cancellation of events and the loss of income at a time when families and medical students need the charity most.

Join Lorna Votier and  Graham Ball, TVF Founder and CEO,  and supporters of TVF and trek 25km on SUNDAY 7th March 2021 on the Thames starting at Kew Bridge and finishing at Richmond Bridge to raise much needed funds for TVF -  all within social distance guidelines. You could also take part in your own time and at your own pace - every donation will help to make a difference. 

HOW YOUR SPONSORSHIP and DONATIONS COULD HELP

  •      £80 could provide a textbook for a medical student 
  •    £250 could provide a medical elective bursary 
  •    £550 could provide a specialist trike for a youngster
  • £3,000 could provide a lightweight self-propel wheelchair
  • £65,000 could provide a sixteen-seater accessible minibus

THE ROUTE

Starting at 9am from Kew Bridge we will trek along the Thames passing Chiswick Bridge, Barnes Railway Bridge, Hammersmith Bridge and cross the river at Putney Bridge where we will wind our away back along the Thames via Strand on the Green to Richmond Bridge via Richmond Lock with a socially distanced celebration at Tide Tables.  A drink and snack will be provided and after completing the 25km there will be time to pause and reflect on what you have a achieved, in these such challenging times, with a glass of bubbles to celebrate .This is a great opportunity to get fit, enjoy the Thames and raise funds for such a great cause. 

DETAILS 

TVF relies on events like these to raise vital funds, to help raise awareness of TVF and encourage people to support the charity.

  • You will receive a branded t-shirt to wear during the challenge
  • The challenge will start at Kew Bridge at 9am on  14th March 2021 - meeting at 8.45am at Kew Cricket Club on Kew Green
  • You will receive full details of the route and map 10 days before the event
  • You will need to adhere to COVID-19 social distancing at all times during the 25km walk 
  • You will walk at your own pace, taking regular breaks, snacks will be provided  - please bring water
  • At the finish you will receive a medal, certificate and bubbles to celebrate your achievement

TRAINING 

If you do not walk 15km/9 miles regularly then it is essential to train, please find details below and there will be group training sessions, meeting at the kiosk at Pembroke Lodge Car Park in Richmond Park, on the following dates. Please email if you would like to join us l.votier@thevictoriafoundation.org.uk

VIRTUAL 25km TREKKING CHALLENGE

If you would prefer to take on a 25km trekking challenge in stages or on a date that suits you that is possible too. You set the date, the pace, set up a fundraising page, train, ask your friends to sponsor you and then complete the challenge. Please get in touch NOW T: 020 8332 1788 or by email to l.votier@thevictoriafoundation.org.uk  so that we can support your fundraising and send you a t-shirt to train/walk in and a medal  & certificate on completion of the challenge.
