The Victoria Foundation is delighted to be one of the beneficiary charities of The Petersham Open Gardens on 12th September 2021 - we really hope you can join us in some of the most stunning gardens in Petersham.
Sunday, September 12th; a diary date for garden lovers everywhere. The picturesque village of Petersham, recipient of a Gold Award of London in Bloom for a small village 2019, is excited to host its biennial Open Gardens event. The gates of some of Petersham’s most beautiful and secluded private gardens will be open to visitors in aid of local charities.
Ticket numbers will be limited this year and due to Covid restrictions will need to be bought online.
With a variety of gorgeous gardens on show there is something to suit every taste: the grand, the ornate, the natural, the modern-minimalist, the picture-box perfect, the Zen, the quirky and even gardens in the making.
Directions to the gardens will be displayed throughout the village, and an easy-to-follow map will be included in the programme.
All gardens are within a ten-minute walk from the Petersham Gate entrance to Richmond Park, opposite the Dysart Arms served by buses 65 and 371 from Richmond station.
Garden spotting is thirsty work so teas and delicious homemade cakes will be on sale. There will also be a BBQ, weather permitting. Here’s what some of our visitors had to say in at the last event in 2018:
“A triumph. Stunning gardens, delicious teas, a real feeling of community. A true taste of village life in London.”
“Our expectations were exceeded, such a treat to see into the gardens of the beautiful houses we pass every day.”
“Absolutely stunning. A wonderful glimpse into this beautiful conservation area by the Thames”
Advance tickets are on sale NOW online at www.petershamopengardens.org for the reduced rate of £12 per person and £8 for concessions. Entry is free for children under 16. Gardens will be open from 11am-5pm, with last ticket sales at 4pm.
Please get in touch if you would like to volunteer to help ensure the event is a great success - we need help with marshalling traffic, serving teas & cakes, and, providing guidance for visitors or helping out at an open garden. All volunteers will get free access to the gardens!
