March 2012 - The Victoria Foundation is Charity of the Year for the Sainsbury's Local in Richmond
The Victoria Foundation is delighted to be chosen as charity of the year by for the new Sainsbury's Local store in Richmond and to be presented with a cheque for £1000. The funds will go to our Special Wheels Appeal where we are aiming to raise £54,000 to provide a fully accessible mini-bus which will help many members of the local community who are unable to access conventional transport. January 2012 - The Victoria Foundation is thebestofrichmond's Charity of the Year
The Victoria Foundation is delighted to be chosen by thebestofrichmond as their Charity of the Year and to receive £630 thanks to a networking event organised by thebestofrichmond which champions recommended independent businesses in the borough through a dynamic local website and Buy Local campaign. The money was raised at a networking evening held at Moidul’s Rawalpindi Indian restaurant in Twickenham. Over 50 people attended - each an owner or representative of a business based in the borough of Richmond - to network with friends and business contacts, both old and new. Nick Taimitarha, who runs thebestofrichmond, commented: "As a charity firmly rooted in Richmond borough, The Victoria Foundation is a perfect fit for us so it was a natural choice to receive our support this year. Look out for several great fundraising events throughout the year". See further details
2nd December 2011 - The Victorian Evening in Richmond
The Victorian Foundation was delighted to bring the Victorian Evening back to Richmond after a ten year break. The event was as popular as ever and large crowds turned out to enjoy the fun filled evening. There was a great party atmosphere with people enjoying festive favourites from mulled wine and mince pies to Punch and Judy and much more. Queen Victoria was marvellous and the carriage parade did not disappoint those who patiently waited for it to come along George Street.
A big thank you to all those who generously sponsored the event, advertised in the souvenir programme, donated raffle prize items, who volunteered at the event and of course to those who came and supported the evening. See more details
11th November 2011 - Black Tie Dinner and Dance Black Tie Dinner at Warren House
The Legends of Swing event took place on Friday 11th November within the beautiful setting of Warren House. Ray Lowe provided excellent entertainment with all-time classics. The evening proved a huge success with fundraising on the night raising over £2,500. Thank you to those who generously donated prize items and to the guests who attended the event.
November 1st 2011 - Funny Women Comedy Charity Challenge at Cannizaro House
After the success of our first comedy challenge in partnership with Funny Women, at the Bingham Hotel in November last year, we decided to do it again! Five women from all walks of life were given just weeks to write and perfect their own stand-up routine with the help of professional comics. Each of the Challengers performed brilliantly and asked their friends and contacts to sponsor them for taking up this challenge! The event has raised over £3,500. Thank you to all those who generously donated raffle prizes, attended the event, to the team at Funny Women and of course the five fabulous challengers.
September 25th 2011 - 5k Fun Run in Cannizaro Park
Our first fun run started from the beautiful Cannizaro Park went through Wimbledon Common before finishing at Cannizaro House. The run attracted a wide range of people from professional runners, to families running as a group, and long term friends some who walked the route. The sun was shining and a brilliant time was had by all. The event has raised over £3000 with funds still coming in. A huge thank you to Heather Waghorn from HA Fitness, Julie Eltham from Athena South London, and Isabel Hargreaves from Cannizaro House who were passionate about the race. Congratulations to Angie Davies from Pink Frog Creative for coming first!

On 22nd September, nearly 200 guests attended our Annual Supporter Reception at the exclusive Ham Polo Club (www. This very popular event is an opportunity for the charity to thank those who have generously supported our work and invite others who might be interested in getting involved in the future. On 17th November 2010 our Kilimanjaro Challenge Team - Dave Weston, Jean Burman, and Neil Wynn-Jones and leader Mike Laing, successfully reached the summit of Kilimanjaro and through doing so have raised over £19,000. The NVMF agrees to pledge £165,196 to The Thames Community Foundation to support local voluntary and community groups whose activities meet the NVMF’s charitable objectives. The fund which will be set up in the NVMF’s name will attract a match funding of £165,196 creating a total fund of £330,392.
