Great Wall Challenge 2011 - The team have raised over £56,000 with funds still coming in!
Our Great Wall Challenge Team left Heathrow on 6th March 2011 to take on a five day fundraising trek on remote and rugged sections of the Great Wall of China. The team coped with very basic accommodation and walking or clambering for five to seven hours a day for five consecutive days on steep, rugged, rough and remote terrain. All members of the team pushed themselves to their limits and completed all of the challenge. The team were aiming to raise £50,000 which will help to improve many lives through the medical support the funds will provide and through their hard work and commitment to fundraising they have raised more than £56,000 with funds still coming in.
Lorna Votier, Development Director at The Victoria Foundation and a Great Wall Challenge 2011 Team member said, ‘China is a fascinating country and taking part in the challenge was a huge privilege and something that we will all remember for many years to come. It is wonderful to have such loyal supporters who agreed to take up this challenge. It was an experience which pushed us all to our limits but every step was worth it as the funds we have raised will help to improve so many lives.’
